August 25, 2014

This week was a good week.  We had a lot of interesting things happen this week. We drove or found rides to the stake center a ton of times.

Tuesday, Elder Goro did an interview for an investigator that some sisters were teaching. She was real nice. We had dinner with the Homesteads.

Wednesday this week we went on Exchanges with the Zone leaders. I went up to St. Joe with Elder Hart.  Elder Goro stayed in our area with Elder Sjoblom.  The exchange was fun. I was able to have district meeting in St Joe. There are all new missionaries there except for Elder McCurdy. He has been in Maryville since December. The training was on what make a successful missionary. It was also fun to be working in part of my old area.  Elder Hart and I taught Egwardo some of the commandments he is real close to baptism just needs to come to church a couple more times.

Thursday we also taught the Bueschers the 4th new member lessons.  They are doing great.  They both have callings and are progressing in the gospel. They even feed us.

Friday we went to a funeral for a member of the ward that just died. It was a good funeral and most of the extended family isn't members of the church. Sister Gunter, one of the Sister missionaries, and our ward mission leader spoke at the funeral. We then worked in Smithville. We had a couple of appointments and all of them fell through. In the evening we help the Dedelows paint more of the fence. The Sister missionaries were also there. The fence is slowly all getting white.

Saturday we help a family move from one house into another house in Smithville. It was a very hot day. We did some tracting and talked to lots of people and only handed out one Book of Mormon.

Sunday we had Church, two investigators made it to church. We learned about the apostasy in gospel principal class.    We watched a move about how Wilford Woodruff learned about the gospel. We talked about the talk “Are you sleeping through the restoration?” in Elders quorum. We had dinner with the Philips. We then stop by the Bueschers and talk with them for an hour.

I am having a great time out here. Thanks for the letters. I hope you all have a great week.
Love,
Elder Benjamin Allen

Dear Family and Friends,

This week was a good week. I am doing great. The weather is nice.  It hasn't been to hot this summer. There is still some humidity but not as bad as last year. It has rained some.

We had zone conference on Wednesday. The theme was being receptive to the Spirit.  Sister Vest also told us that we all need to eat more healthy.  She showed us foods that we should eat.

My companion had an interview for a girl being baptized so we went to the Stake Center. She was a nice lady that has some great member support so she was really prepared to be baptized.

Elder Allen
We meet with Josh this week and read some scriptures with him. We read Helaman Ch. 5 and some in Alma.  He is beginning to start to understand the scriptures more. He came to church also.

We help our ward mission leader pick grapes after our meeting with him. It was fun to pick grapes and help his family out. There were tons of grapes on the vines.

Church was good, we sang in the choir this week.  We heard from a senior sister that just came home from serving a mission in Argentina. She went to help with the church career centers there. She had lots of stories about knowing what to say when she was asked a question. She did a lot to help those people out.

We also then had a Stake Priesthood meeting. It was all about making our Homes more Christ like and making them more celestial places and what we could do to achieve it.

Thanks you for all the letters. I hope you all have a great week. I hope the weather is nice for you all.
Love,
Elder Benjamin Allen

Dear Family and Friends,

This week was a good week. It rained a lot this week.

This week we went on Exchanges with the Platte City Elders. I was able to stay in my area and be with Elder Olsen. We had a good exchange. He has been out for like 3 weeks so it was nice to be able to help him and answer questions that he had. While we were on exchanges we taught Austin. He is doing good he still has lots of educational questions.   We need to have him read from the Book of Mormon.

We saw Josh this week and read with him from the Book of Mormon. We are still trying to help him resolve his concerns that he has.

This week we got a new rooster and on it was a new name. We went to try it and he was nice and his wife was a little interested in what we had to say. We were able to set up a time to come back. I hope the wife become even more interested.

Church was about being obedient and how we receive blessings for it.  We also talked about the Holy Ghost and its importance and how it helps with the conversion processes. I have seen the Holy Ghost convert people and teach them of the truth. It comes mostly only after some one asks and prays for an answer if this church is true and if the Book of Mormon is true.

Thanks for the emails and letters. I hope you all have a great week. Be safe and I love you all.

Love,
Elder Benjamin Allen

This week was a good week. It was a slow week for us. We haven't been able to find any new investigators. We did a lot of tracting but none of the people that we talked to were to interested. I don't even think that we found anyone that would accept a Book of Mormon.  We are trying to help the ward find all the lost sheep and have been finding that most have moved and trying to find a new address for them.

We are still teaching Josh he is reading from the Book of Mormon, we are giving him a chapter to read every day.  He was sick so he didn't make it to church.

We have been teaching a person named Austin and he is going to school to become a preacher. I think he is meeting with us just for intellectual reasons. We talked all about the atonement and the priesthood this week. I hope we can find some thing to peak his interest into spiritual.

We have done some service this week. We help a family moved in the ward from Texas. The Johnsons came from a small branch.  The interesting thing is that their daughter was in my last ward. It is crazy how small of a world we live in.

This Thursday we went out with Brother Mack. We felt inspired to see a family named the Austin's. When we got there Brother Austin was about ready to leave for work. He asked us to help assist him in giving his daughter a blessing. It was the First blessing that he ever gave.  It was a sure prompting for us to see him when we did.

Thanks for all the letters and the emails. I am grateful for the support. I love you all so much. I hope you all have an excellent week.

Love,
Elder Benjamin Allen
